Low Maintenance, High Impact

Decking is a often thought of as being maintenance intensive. On the contrary requires little up keep, needing only a jet wash down and oil applied ( simply applied with a yard brush) once a year. Comparatively a patio would need the same washing down per year, but isn't as quick to install. Decking can also make sloped ground useable much more cost effectively than other hardscaping solutions.

FAQs

How long should a professionally built deck last?

When built correctly, a timber deck should last well beyond the timber mill’s guarantee against rot and insect attack. By following current British Standards and best practice installation methods, we ensure your decking is built to stand the test of time.

Do you build your decks to British Standards?

Yes. All of our decking frames are designed and constructed in line with British Standards for domestic floor loading. We also follow European structural design codes to ensure strength, safety and minimal deflection.

What makes your decking frames stronger?

The frame is the most important part of any deck. Our director, James, is a qualified Civil/Structural Engineer, meaning every deck is designed with proper load distribution and structural integrity in mind. Joists are never overspanned, ensuring your deck feels solid and secure underfoot.

How do you prevent decking from rotting prematurely?

We adopt modern, evolving industry best practices to improve durability and sustainability. One key method we use is damp-proofing the tops of joists. This prevents standing water from sitting on the frame, significantly reducing the risk of premature rot.

Does damp-proofing the joists make a difference visually?

Yes. As well as protecting the structure, damp-proofing the top of joists reduces their visibility through the natural expansion gaps between decking boards which gives a cleaner, more professional finish.
